 There are more and more lost-looking men with that deer-caught-in-the-headlights inward-looking stare--the natural prey of eager shopkeepers who know they can sell these men absolutely anything. Are you utterly clueless? You sense that whatever you give is freighted with symbolic meaning, but you have no idea what that meaning is.
You strongly suspect this is one of those little tests women put men through that you can't possibly win -- give us nothing at all, and be forever written off as insensitive dolts, or give us the wrong things and be forever written off as insensitive dolts.
Here are some tips to help you:
- It’s not the gift; it’s the simple act that you remembered. Even if you did not buy a gift that a women really wants they will give you credit for trying. Even the simplest gifts like chocolates or flowers will be appreciated.
- The gift should make women feel that they are special. Show her that you noticed her unique interests; preferences and most importantly listen to what she says and cares about. Every woman has her own specific taste. Don't buy earrings for her if she doesn’t wear earrings. If she does, try to determine the kinds she likes, earrings are not alike. Try to avoid getting generic gifts for women. If she were a save-the-whales sort of person, a little gold whale charm on a chain would be a delightful gift. The gift does not have to be expensive when conveys the basic message, "I know who you are and I love that in you."
- Handmade gifts or gifts that are personally made by you is a sure winner. The message you are sending across is, "You are important and special to me, this gift is specially made for you". It sends a very strong message to her, the amount of time, effort, and thought you put into the gift.
- Don’t attempt to buy clothing for a woman unless you know what size she wears and understands what clothes look good on her. Women do like to dress to please her man but don’t go overboard doing it.
- Home appliances like vacuum cleaners, toaster-ovens and sewing machines is a definite no-no. Gifts should not remind women of their responsibilities at home. Modern day women might not feel the same as women then.
- Time is the nicest gift to a woman. Take her off somewhere where you can pay uninterrupted attention on her. Time alone with her watching the sun set is great way to keep a relationship fresh especially for married couples.
- The gift of words adds that special touch. Tell a woman why the gift is especially for her and if possible, write them down. Women just like that kind of stuff, "Its beauty made me think of you" or "If I could live my life again and I would still fall in love with you”. If your gift is a perishable one, she is sure to keep that card or letter. Better yet, if you can write poetry, whatever gift you give her doesn’t really matter. What’s good about this is that it doesn’t even have to rhyme, just tell her how special she is to you.
It really isn't that difficult choosing a gift for your woman, be courageous and you will be surprise how well things turn out.
